Download SERVICE Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve For PCV valve removal, refer to Routine Maintenance of this information. 1. Locate the PCV valve. With the engine running at idle, use pliers to pinch the PCV hose between the valve and the intake manifold. It should be possible to hear the spring loaded valve click shut. 2. If no click is heard, remove the valve from the engine but leave it connected to the intake manifold. A hissing sound should be heard and vacuum should be felt at the valve inlet. 3. If no vacuum is felt, remove the valve from the intake manifold hose. The engine should stall or almost stall. This will indicate a stuck valve or clogged hose. Check the breather hose for clogging or leaks and replace any defective parts. There are several different types of fuel injection conversions available, however, this instruction will concentrate on the High Output, MASS-AIR setups found on the 92-93 Ford Mustangs. There are two main advantages to using this type of setup. The first advantage is that the computer in the MASS-AIR system will automatically compensate for any engine modifications that have been done prior to the installation of the fuel injection system. The second advantage is that fuel is sent to each cylinder individually only during the appropriate firing cycle, meaning that fuel is sent sequentially to each cylinder only when the spark plug is ready to fire. The 225hp TT engine looks a little different, but the install of the A.W.E. Tuning valve is the same procedure. For picture clarity, and ease of install, the decorative engine cover has been removed. Removing the cover is easily done by twisting the “+” shaped fasteners on the cover 90 degrees. They’ll pop up when free, allowing you to grab the cover and lift it up and out of the engine bay. Download The AERATechnical Committee offers the following information regarding an engine miss or engine noise, at start-up, on 1997-2000 4.6, 5.4 & 6.8LSOHC engines. This condition has been reported during cold ambient temperatures less than 10°F (-12°C). The cause of this condition may be a roller finger follower(s) being dislodged from the valve. This may result in damage to the camshaft, roller finger follower, valve, retainer, etc. Apparently, the clearance created in the lifters, at the locations with the valves remaining open when the engine is shut off, is sufficient enough to allow the dislodgement. Thicker oil during cold ambient temperatures may not allow fully pressurized oil to reach all locations during initial engine start-up. Aprocedure is now available to service this condition. ACTION: Inspect and replace any worn or damaged engine valve components and install a new retaining clip and lash adjuster for service. Relieve fuel pressure by loosening banjo bolt on top of fuel fi lter. Disconnect the fuel line at fuel rail. It is recommended that the washers be replaced. Next, disconnect the fuel injector harness holder and unbolt. Disconnect hoses from fuel pressure regulator (FPR). 2. Disconnect intake tubing/pipe from throttle body.
