Download Remove Factory Radio STEP 1 : The Ford radio is snapped into the vehicles dash. With the proper tool, known as Ford radio removal keys, the Ford radio can be pulled forward out of the dash. A clothes hanger can be used instead of actual Ford radio removal keys. Cut the clothes hanger and bend 2 pieces in the shape as shown in the photos above. For more information on how to remove the radio, see the diagram below. STEP 2 : Pull the radio from the dash. Unplug the antenna cable from the rear of the radio. Unplug the 2 wire harness connectors from the rear of the radio. This vehicle may have the Ford Premium Sound System installed in the vehicle. Download Use the instructions that were included with the original Guardian or Guardian II kit, and make the following modifications: VEHICLE 1 HARNESS – 1997-2002 Econoline with Gas Engine and Transmission Code E or 9 only – This application will not have a Ford OEM Blunt cut wire for “Park”. An auxiliary 4-pin Park Harness (Part # GRDP6) will be needed and the Vehicle 1 Harness will need to be modified. Cut the Orange wire on the Vehicle 1 harness near the connector. Save the grommet, and discard the Orange wire. Locate the Ford gray 4-pin connector located above the transmission bell housing. Separate the connector halves and connect the gray “T” harness connectors from the GRDP6 Harness between them. Drill a 5/8″ hole in the bulkhead flange for the engine cover (see picture). Place the Trailer Plate {J2} over the King Pin, with the guide wedge towards the rear of the trailer (wedge facing down). This test is intended to diagnose: Exhaust Backpressure (EBP) Sensor • Wiring Harness Circuits (SIG RTN, VREF & EBP Signal) • Powertrain Control Module (PCM) • 1) DTC P0470 This DTC indicates PCM detected EBP sensor malfunction during KOEO ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST. Possible causes for this DTC are: Faulty EBP Sensor • Open Or Shorted Circuit • Faulty PCM • Ensure scan tool is connected to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, select EBP PID from PID/DATA monitor menu. If EBP reading is less than 18.5 psi, clear DTCs. Repeat KOEO ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST . If DTC is still present, replace PCM.
