Download 1996 Chevrolet Chevy K Pickup – 4WD | Chevy Pickup, GMC Pickup, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon (VIN C/K) Service Manual DTC P1351 Ignition Coil Control Circuit High Voltage. Circuit Description The enhanced ignition system uses the crank sensor in order to provide the timing input to the VCM. The VCM uses this reference pulse in order to determine the individual ignition spark timing for each cylinder. Once the VCM calculates the ignition timing, the ignition coil module on the IC circuit receives the timing signal. Each timing pulse received by the ignition coil module on the IC circuit triggers the coil module in order to operate the ignition coil. The secondary ignition voltage is induced, and then the secondary ignition voltage is sent to the distributor for distribution to each spark plug. This DTC is a type A DTC. The IC signal voltage ranges from about 0.5 volt to 4.5 volts.… Read More

If this condition is present, the customer will not be able to remove the key from the ignition. The illustration above shows the switch in a correct position. Cause 3 Metal flashing left in the cylinder may cause a high effort to rotate the key. Cause 4 The slider may be binding in the guides. This may cause the shifter to become difficult to operate. Correction 1 Verify that the shifter button is inoperative by evaluating if the park pawl pin on the shifter

If this wire is allowed to touch vehicle or engine ground, with the ignition switch on, it can cause a direct short on the battery possibly causing permanent damage to the vehicle wiring and a fire. Cypress Engineering assumes no liability for damage caused from this occurrence or due to any faults in the existing vehicle wiring. 5. Remove the ignition switch wire from the ignition coil primary positive (+) terminal. Make sure this wire does not come into contact with vehicle or engine ground. 6. Remove the ignition coil and mounting strap from the fan housing and set them aside. 7. Remove the stock distributor and set it aside. 8. The system is standard equipment on each of the applied vehicles listed above. The IVIS/NATS will not allow the engine to start without the use of a registered ignition key. If a vehicle will not start and the Security lamp is on solid, it may be because the ignition keys were not properly registered into the vehicle’s NATS IMMU (Immobilizer control unit). In this case, there will be a “DIFFERENCE OF KEY” code stored in the NATS IMMU. When the NATS ignition key, IMMU, or ECM (ECCS control unit) are replaced, C/U initialization is necessary. It is also necessary when registering keys and as part of many NATS Service Manual diagnostic procedures.… Read More
