Tests/Procedures: 1. Check the right side (passenger side) Intake Valve Timing Control Position (IVTCP) sensor for 12 volts on the Black/White wire. 2. Check the IVTCP sensor for a good ground on the Black wire. 3. Scope the Yellow/Green signal wire and look for a square wave signal of around 8 volts. Check the pattern of the right side sensor and if unsure of the pattern, compare it to the left bank sensor. Potential Causes: IVTCP Sensor Wiring — IVTCP sensor wiring/connection. Tech Tips: This code is for the right (passenger) bank IVTCP Sensor or sensor circuit. The right and left bank sensors can be swapped from side to side to see if the code will follow the sensor.… Read More

Download 1997 Buick Riviera | Aurora, Riviera (VIN G) Service Manual DTC P0341 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Performance. Circuit Description The camshaft position PCM input is produced by the ignition control module. The ICM produces the camshaft position PCM input by filtering the camshaft position (CMP) sensor pulses when the engine is running and CKP sync pulses are also being received. The PCM uses the camshaft position PCM input pulses to initiate sequential fuel injection and to determine crankshaft position for the misfire diagnostic. The PCM constantly monitors the number of pulses on the camshaft position PCM input circuit and compares the number of camshaft position PCM input pulses to the number of 18X reference pulses and the number of 3X reference pulses being received. If the PCM receives an incorrect number of pulses on the camshaft position PCM input circuit, DTC P0341 will set and the PCM will initiate injector sequence without the camshaft position PCM input with a one in six chance that injector sequence is correct.… Read More

Download : Prior to removal of the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor, set cylinder No.1 to zero degrees Top Dead Center (TDC) of compression stroke. Then note the position of the CMP sensor electrical connector. The installation procedure requires that the connector be located in the same position. 1. Disconnect battery ground cable. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy. 2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring connector from CMP sensor. 3. Remove retaining screws and CMP sensor from sensor housing. 4. If removing CMP sensor housing from the cylinder block, proceed with Removal Step 5. If not removing sensor housing, proceed to installation Step 6. 5. Remove hold-down clamp (bolt and washer assembly) . 6. Remove CMP sensor housing from cylinder block.… Read More

Edge Module and Sensor Wire Installation For trucks with fuse box in a different location, an alternate location for mounting will have to be found. One suggestion is to mount the Juice Module on the side of the air filter box. 1. It is strongly recommended when installing electrical devices that both batteries should be disconnected. Use a 13 mm or 8 mm wrench depending on battery style and remove the negative terminal cable end from each battery. 2. Place the Juice module on top of the fuse box as shown in figure 5. After the installation is complete you will use the supplied Velcro® to secure the Juice module to the fuse box. 3. Connect the MAP “Y” connector between the wire harness and the sensor as shown in Figure 6. This connection is located in front of the passenger side of the vehicle in the engine compartment. 4.… Read More

Download Models: 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban 2001 GMC Sierra, Yukon XL Equipped with 8.1L V8 (RPO L18 – VIN G) Engine. Condition General Motors has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2001 model year Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban; GMC Sierra and Yukon XL model vehicles, equipped with an 8.1L V8 (RPO L18 – VIN G) engine. Some of these vehicles have a condition in which the crankshaft position sensor can fail intermittently or permanently. If the sensor fails intermittently, the Service Engine Soon (SES) light may illuminate and the vehicle may run rough. In addition, the engine may stall, and if so, may re-start immediately or after a cool down period. If the sensor fails permanently, the engine will quit running and will not re-start. Correction Dealers are to replace the crankshaft position sensor.
