Repair Manual, Body Interior, Repair Group 69 – Remove steering column switches Page 94-37 . – Insert spare or shop key and switch ignition on: access hole will appear in front of switch next to ignition key slot. Installing – Insert length of steel wire or small screwdriver (approx. 2 mm dia.) as far as it will go, as illustrated, and pull lock cylinder out of steering lock housing in direction of arrow. – Ignition switch must be in “ignition on” position. – Push lock cylinder with ignition key all way into steering lock housing and press in firmly until catch engages audibly. – Install steering column switches and steering wheel. If the PCM detects an open TCC brake switch (stuck ON) during accelerations, then DTC P0719 sets. DTC P0719 is a type C DTC. Conditions for Running the DTC * No VSS DTCs P0502 or P0503. * DTC P0719 has not passed this ignition cycle. It is not necessary to completely remove the switch from the column. Pull the switch rearward far enough to slip it over the end of the shaft, but do not pull the harness out of the column. 2. Turn the lock to Run. 3. If necessary, remove the ignition key. 4. If equipped, remove the buzzer switch assembly. 5. Remove the lock retaining screw and remove the lock cylinder. 6. WARNING If the retaining screw is dropped on removal, it may fall into the column, requiring complete disassembly of the column to retrieve the screw. STEP 1 Radio Removal CAUTION: Use plastic trim removal tool to prevent damage or scratches to vent panels. a. Unsnap vent panels on either side of radio using plastic trim removal tool. b. Remove (10) phillips screws from radio/AC panel. c. Pull radio/AC assembly out, unplug harness connectors and remove. d. You should have a clear view of the dash cavity.
STEP 2 Installing the FM Modulator : a. Attach FM modulator to bottom of lower plastic cross brace using two 11” wire ties. b. Plug male car antenna lead into female antenna lead on FM modulator and wrap connection with felt. c. Use 3M Scotch Lock to splice Red wire into the factory radio harness Green with Black stripe wire. d. Connect black wire to lower metal cross brace (has existing factory ground wire in this location). Loosen bolt and slide spade connector in and tighten bolt.

Download Do not zip tie anything until you are done. Step1: Remove headlight, seat and gas tank. You may have to move the kill switch to the right side of the handlebars if you don’t have enough room on the left side. Step 2: Partially install the headlight assembly using the top right heavy-duty zip tie only to hold it in place temporarily. You will need to plug wires to this assembly and if you put all the bands on you will not be able to make the connections. Step 3: Install handlebar switch on clutch side. You will need to move clutch perch to the right (about ½ inch to 1 inch) to make room for the switch. The clutch adjuster should just miss the handlebar switch.
