Download Power Steering Warning Message Displayed in DIC, IPC/Radio Displays Erratic, DTC C0900, B1325 Set (Replace Ignition Coil/Module Assembly and Add Ground Strap) Models: 2004-2006 Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx with 3.5L Engine (VINs 8, N — RPOs LX9, LZ4) Condition Some customers may comment on a loss of power steering assist at high RPM (above 3500 RPM) and a power steering warning message displayed in the DIC. They may also comment some instrument/radio displays are erratic. Upon investigation, the technician may find DTC C0900 set. If the displays were erratic, then DTC B1325 will also be set. Cause This condition may occur when the system voltage exceeds 16 volts for one second for code C0900 and the system shuts down to protect it from over-voltage operation. If the voltage exceeds 18 volts for five seconds for code B1325, then other electronic systems protect themselves and shut down. Download 1. Remove fuel tank filler cap. Listen for fuel pump operation noise at fuel tank filler. Fuel pump should operate for 2 seconds after ignition switch is turned on. If fuel pump operates as specified, fuel pump is okay. If fuel pump does not operate as specified, go to next step. 2. Turn ignition switch off. Remove rear seat or trunk floor to gain access to fuel pump connector. Disconnect fuel pump connector. Disconnect PGM-FI main relay connector. Release the rod ends from the plastic clips of the scissor links by prying the yellow clasps up with a screw driver. 3. Remove the two 10 MM nuts holding the scissor bracket and remove it and remove the handle. 4. Pry the plastic dust cover from the handle and discard it. 5. Slide the LOCK BRACKET over the driver’s side stud on the handle and slide the EL over the passenger’s side stud of the handle. 6. Insert them into the tailgate from the outside. 7. Insert the scissor bracket into the tailgate from the inside. Tighten it down with a nut on the driver’s side. 8. Turn the lock counter clockwise with the slot in the horizontal position. Disconnect the upper and lower air inlet hoses from the resonator and remove the resonator. 4. Remove the air cleaner housing. 5. Locate the radiator cooling fan relay on the left front inner frame rail just behind the radiator (Figure 1). 6. Disconnect the radiator fan relay wiring connector. 7. Remove the radiator fan relay. Discard the relay and the attaching screws. 8. Install the new radiator fan relay using the supplied screws. Tighten the screws to 35 in-lbs (4 N.m). CAUTION: Do not over torque screws.
