Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. 2. Remove the harness clip from the canister vent solenoid (CVS) line. 3. Download DTC P0442 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected Refer to Engine Controls Routing Diagram, EVAP Control System Overview . System Description This DTC tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a small leak. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal to determine the vacuum decay rate. At an appropriate time, the control module turns the EVAP canister purge valve ON and the EVAP vent valve ON. This allows the engine to draw a vacuum on the EVAP system. At a calibrated time, or vacuum level, the control module turns the EVAP canister purge valve OFF, sealing the system, and monitors the FTP sensor input in order to determine the EVAP system vacuum decay. If the control module detects a leak larger than a calibrated amount, this DTC sets. Download Models: 2002 and Prior Passenger Cars and Light Duty Trucks with Non-Enhanced and Enhanced EVAP Systems. Non-Enhanced EVAP System Diagnostic Procedure 1. Pinch off or plug the EVAP vapor line to seal the EVAP system. 2. Connect the EEST red battery clip to the positive (+) battery terminal. Connect the black battery clip to chassis ground. 3. Install the appropriate fuel fill cap adapter to the fuel fill pipe. Refer to the Service Information for the appropriate fuel fill cap adapter part number. 4. Connect the EEST’s nitrogen/smoke supply hose and vehicle fuel fill cap to the adapter. 5. Turn the nitrogen/smoke valve on the EEST control panel to SMOKE. 6. Use the remote switch to introduce smoke into the EVAP system for 60 seconds. Important: Additional smoke may need to be introduced at 15-second intervals until the leak source has been located. 7. Download Transmission Oil Cooler Line Quick Connect Fitting Removal Procedure Important: The front and rear sections of the cooler lines can be serviced separately. Refer to the appropriate steps when servicing individual lines. Perform the following procedure when removing the cooler lines from the quick connect fittings. 1. Pull the plastic cap back from the quick connect fining and down along the cooler line about 5 cm (2 inch) . 2. Using a bent-tip screwdriver, pull on one of the open ends of the retaining ring in order to rotate the retaining ring around the quick connect fining until the retaining ring is out of position and can be completely removed. 3. Remove the retaining ring from the quick connect fitting. 4. Discard the retaining ring. 5. Pull the cooler line straight out from the quick connect fitting. Download 1. Turn OFF the ignition. 2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. 3. Disconnect the electrical connector. 4. Remove the EVAP vent valve bracket bolt. 5. Remove the EVAP vent valve from the bracket. 6. Disconnect the vent hose from the EVAP vent valve. 7. Remove the EVAP vent valve. Installation Procedure 1. Install the EVAP vent valve on bracket. 2. Connect the vent hose. Canister vent hose should be routed below the fuel tank fill and vent hoses. Notice Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. Download 1. Remove the original equipment (OE) from the front of the gearbox, including the release fork, release fork pivot, and slave cylinder. 2. Apply a small amount of grease to the pilot nose to allow the o-ring located in the internal bore to slide on easily. 3. Install the Tilton bearing assembly onto the front of the gearbox so that both hydraulic lines can be routed out the existing clutch release fork hole in the gearbox. 4. Insure that the assembly is seated flush with the bottom of the pilot tube. 5. The heights of the installed assemblies are 1.63″ for P/N 61-772 and 1.70″ for P/N 61-777 when the piston is fully retracted as seen in Diagram 1 . These heights are measured from the bearing face to the flange mounting surface.
