Unsnap gear selector trim bezel, unplug and remove the bezel. Extract (2) 10 mm bolts from metal console bracket. 2. Remove Factory Radio NOTE : To remove the radio, the center dash panel surrounding the radio must be removed. There are three (3) phillips screws that secure this dash panel to the main dash assembly. However, (1) one of the screws is hidden behind the clock. STEP 1 : The clock unsnaps from the dash panel, but requires a very small flat head screwdriver or similar flat tool. Insert the tool into the side gap between the edge of the clock assembly and the dash panel. GENTLY, pry out that edge of the clock. Insert your fingers into the gap and pull firmly to completely remove the clock from the dash panel. STEP 1 : The center dash console must be loosened and pulled away in order to gain access to screws securing the plastic dash panel surrounding the radio. Open the center console glove box. At the very bottom is a plastic panel that covers hidden screws. With your fingers or a flat head screwdriver, lift up and remove the plastic panel. Once the panel is removed, locate and remove two (2) phillips screws. STEP 2 : Lift open the drink tray door. Pull the drink tray up and pull it out of the center console.STEP 3 : Once the drink tray is removed, locate and remove three (3) phillips screws. REMOVAL & INSTALLATION TRANSMISSION Removal 1) Remove the shift knob and lock nut from transmission and transfer case shift levers (if equipped). On Wrangler models, remove screws attaching transmission and transfer case shift lever boots and remove both boots. 2) On all other models, raise outer gearshift lever boot and remove upper part on center console. Remove lower part of console, remove inner boot and gearshift lever. 3) On Wrangler models, remove transmission shift tower dust cover. Remove transmission shift lever and stub shaft. DO NOT remove shift lever from stub shaft. 4) On all models, raise and support vehicle. Drain transmission lubricant. Mark rear drive shaft for reassembly and remove rear drive shaft.
