Download 1991 Infiniti G20 AXLE SHAFTS – FRONT’ ’1991-92 DRIVE AXLES FWD Axle Shafts. REMOVAL & INSTALLATION FWD AXLE SHAFT Removal (Axle Shaft) 1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel assembly. Remove wheel bearing lock nut. Remove brake caliper, and support aside. Remove brake rotor. 2. Disconnect tie rod end. Remove upper knuckle nut, and separate knuckle assembly from third link assembly. Push axle shaft through hub, and separate axle assembly from knuckle assembly. 3. Insert screwdriver blade between transaxle case and right axle inner CV joint. Pry out on joint until joint pops free. Use care not to damage axle boot or axle seal. 4. On M/T vehicles, remove left axle in same manner. On A/T vehicles, insert screwdriver through differential, and drive axle out of transaxle case using a hammer. See Fig. 2 . Download 1. Using Torx Bit (T-25), remove 5 bolts from cap assembly. Remove cap assembly. See Fig. 5 . DO NOT drop spring, ball bearing, bearing race or spring retainer. 2. Remove rubber sealing ring and seal bridge retainer. Remove retainer ring by closing ends with needle nose pliers while pulling hub lock from wheel hub. 3. If wheel hub and spindle are to be removed, remove “C” washer from stub shaft groove. Remove splined spacer from axle shaft. Remove wheel bearing lock nuts and lock washer. Installation 1. Download Torsen® 8.8 Inch 28 Tooth Differential Into Live Axle Rear Suspension (Applications – Ford Mustang, Crown Victoria, Ranger, F-150, and Explorer) NOTE : Be sure to keep right and left bearing cups, shims, and bearing journal caps separated! 1. Install ring gear on Torsen differential. Torque bolts as specified in the Ford Service Manual. 2. Install two new journal bearings on Torsen differential. 3. Mount differential assembly into axle by following the procedure given in the Ford Service Manual. 4. Remove retaining pin holding the thrust block from the Torsen differential and slide the thrust block from the differential. 5. Insert the left axle shaft as far as possible.
