Download 1. Drain the coolant. 2. Remove the fan and shroud. 3. Remove the drive belt . 4. Using the J 41240, secure the water pump pulley and remove the water pump pulley bolts. 5. Remove the J 41240. 6. Remove the water pump pulley. 7. Loosen and remove the water pump bolts. 8. Remove the water pump. 9. Clean and inspect the water pump. 10. Discard and replace the gasket. Installation Procedure 1. Install a new water pump gasket. 2. Install the water pump and secure the water pump with the bolts. Tighten * On the initial pass, tighten the bolts to 4 Nm (35 lb in). * On the final pass, tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in). 3. Install the water pump pulley. 4. Download When removing water pump assembly, be careful not to get coolant on drive belt. Water pump cannot be disassembled and should be replaced as a unit. After Installing water pump, connect hose and clamp securely, then check for leaks using radiator cap tester. 1.Drain coolant from drain plugs on radiator and both sides of cylinder block. 2.Remove drain plug on cylinder block. 3.Remove right side engine mounting, mounting bracket and nuts. 4.Remove drive belts and idler pulley bracket. 5.Remove chain tensioner cover and water pump cover. 6.Pushing timing chain tensioner sleeve, apply a stopper pin so it does not return. Then remove the chain tensioner assembly. 7.Remove the 3 water pump fixing bolts. CIRCUIT TEST J – FUEL PUMP CIRCUIT (RELAY & INERTIA SWITCH) Diagnostic Aids When ignition switch is in the ON or START position, the PCM connects FUEL PUMP circuit (PCM terminal No. 22) to ground. The fuel pump relay is energized and electrical current flows to the fuel pump. If PCM does not receive ignition PIP signal within 2 seconds, FUEL PUMP circuit is opened and fuel pump operation is terminated. Perform this test when instructed by QUICK TEST or CIRCUIT TEST AA. Remove front bumper to gain access to washer reservoir. ? Drill 9/16″ hole in desired bulkhead location. Note that the bulkhead can be positioned horizontally to direct the tube toward the pump. ? Remove one nut from and turn the remaining nut until it is at the very end of the bulkhead. ? Feed red tubing through the 9/16″ hole and out the top of the reservoir. ? Attach red tubing to the bulkhead on the side opposite the nut. ? Pull the tube through the bulkhead hole until the bulkhead seats against the inside of the reservoir. ? Apply liberal amount of E6000® sealant around bulkhead. ? Slide the nut you had previously removed up onto the tube and thread it onto the bulkhead. ? Honda Electric Fuel Pump Installation Instructions – On the ignition side of engine, locate the 10 mm bolt at (1). Remove this bolt and attach the fuel pump . Ensure the fuel pump wires are facing upward. – Attach the other side of the fuel pump (2) to the engine cover using the self-tapping screw. – Attach fuel line (5) to the top and bottom of the fuel pump with hose clamps. The top fuel line goes to the opposite side of the engine and connects to the carburetor inlet. (Place the fuel line hose along the muffler side of the air cleaner.
