Download 1. Disconnect vacuum hose at speed control servo and install a vacuum gauge into the disconnected hose. 2. Start engine and observe gauge at idle. Vacuum gauge should read at least ten inches of mercury. 3. If vacuum is less than ten inches of mercury, determine source of leak. Check vacuum line to engine for leaks. Also check actual engine intake manifold vacuum. If manifold vacuum does not meet this requirement, check for poor engine performance and repair as necessary. 4. If vacuum line to engine is not leaking, check for leak at vacuum reservoir. To locate and gain access to reservoir, refer to Vacuum Reservoir REMOVAL / INSTALLATION . Disconnect vacuum line at reservoir and connect a hand-operated vacuum pump to reservoir fitting. Apply vacuum. Reservoir vacuum should not bleed off. If vacuum is being lost, replace reservoir. 5. Based upon stored fault codes for secondary air system, there is little or no flow of secondary air into engine. Typical causes for this issue are failed secondary air pumps and/or secondary air check valves. Secondary air pump should operate under normal circumstances when vehicle is first started to perform system test. Pump will normally be heard running when standing in front right corner of vehicle. 2. The secondary air pump is located in the right front of engine compartment. A secondary air pump relay located in the glove box is controlled by the engine control module and sends power to the secondary air pump. 3. Download DTC P0442 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected Refer to Engine Controls Routing Diagram, EVAP Control System Overview . System Description This DTC tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a small leak. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal to determine the vacuum decay rate. At an appropriate time, the control module turns the EVAP canister purge valve ON and the EVAP vent valve ON. This allows the engine to draw a vacuum on the EVAP system. At a calibrated time, or vacuum level, the control module turns the EVAP canister purge valve OFF, sealing the system, and monitors the FTP sensor input in order to determine the EVAP system vacuum decay. If the control module detects a leak larger than a calibrated amount, this DTC sets. If less than B+ at pin F, check for a wiring and connection problem between the air compressor and the underhood fuse block. 4. Disconnect the compressor leveling module connector and check the resistance from the positive battery voltage circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve and the control circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve. Download SERVICE Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valve For PCV valve removal, refer to Routine Maintenance of this information. 1. Locate the PCV valve. With the engine running at idle, use pliers to pinch the PCV hose between the valve and the intake manifold. It should be possible to hear the spring loaded valve click shut. 2. If no click is heard, remove the valve from the engine but leave it connected to the intake manifold. A hissing sound should be heard and vacuum should be felt at the valve inlet. 3. If no vacuum is felt, remove the valve from the intake manifold hose. The engine should stall or almost stall. This will indicate a stuck valve or clogged hose. Check the breather hose for clogging or leaks and replace any defective parts. Download Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve and/or Hose Replacement Removal Procedure 1. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum check valve (1) from the brake booster. 2. If the vacuum check valve (1) needs to be separated from the vacuum hose (3), release and reposition the clamp (2) on the vacuum hose (3) and remove the check valve (1) from the hose (3). 3. If replacing the vacuum check valve (1), remove the grommet (4) from the brake booster and discard the grommet. 4. If removing the vacuum hose (2), take note of the vacuum hose routing then disconnect from the engine intake manifold connection (3) by releasing tension on the vacuum hose clamp (1) and sliding the vacuum hose (2) off the intake manifold connection (3). 1. INTRODUCTION: Before installing your cruise control, take the time to read and understand each installation step in this manual. Several steps are dependant on others, so it is important know where and how each component is to be mounted before installation commences. Your kit has been designed for a specific motorcycle. Even if you have installed kits before, take note of where and how components should be installed – particularly the wiring harness layout and connections.
3. TOOLS REQUIRED: Your cruise control can be successfully installed using: • a standard metric socket set; • a metric spanner set including an 11mm ring spanner; • a metric hex key set; • a screwdriver set. • A flat file, a grinder or sandpaper; • Loctite ’243′ or equivalent.
6.1 MOUNTING THE COMPUTER: CAUTION: Never attempt to disconnect electrical connectors by pulling on the wires. • Thread a cable tie (supplied) through one of the screw holes in the computer case until the clip end meets the hole; • Position the computer against the right hand side rear frame rail as shown in the photo, thread the cable tie under the rail (left hand side of computer in the picture) and do it up loosely; • Repeat for the right hand side cable tie but thread it over the top of the rail and do it up loosely; • Check the position of the computer against the photographs before pulling the cable ties tight.… Read More
