Please read these instructions carefully to ensure correct operation of the Flex Fuel Kit. Abcesso is not responsible for damage caused as a result of incorrect installation. These instructions refer to the installation and operation of the supplied Flex Fuel Kit unit, for use with gasoline, Ehanol (E85), or any mixture of both, in gasoline engines with standard-fit, Electronic Multi-Point (MPI), Sequential Fuel Injection System (MPIs). Vehicles with other Injection Systems, such as LE, KE Jetronic, CPI, TBI, or Direct Fuel Injection, cannot be used with Flex Fuel Kit.
STEP 1: Examine Condition, Of The Existing Components. Please ensure that the electrical systems in the vehicle are in good working order. If possible, use appropriate diagnostic equipment to detect any potential faults/malfunctions and rectify these before commencing installation. Examine the battery poles and contacts, ensuring there is no excessive corrosion. Check, also, any earth points on the bodywork or engine to ensure a good circuit. Check that the compression in all cylinders is normal. Check function of the Oxygen Sensor. If the Oxygen Sensor is faulty, please replace with a new sensor of the same type. The Flex Fuel Kit requires correct function of the Oxygen Sensor for correct operation. STEP 2: Locate The Fuel Injection Plugs. Turn off the ignition and engage the handbrake. Open the bonnet and remove any dust covers to expose the injection system. The fuel injection plugs will be located under the fuel pipe. STEP 3: Remove The Fuel Injection Nozzles Harness Connector`s. The rectangular nozzle harness connector (Fig.1) has a securing clip that should be pressed in to facilitate removal. Examine Condition Of The Nozzle Harness Connector`s To Ensure There Is No Corrosion. STEP 4: Check Resistance, Of The Vehicle Fuel Injection Plug. The electrical resistance (impedance) of the vehicles fuel injector plug MUST be tested (Fig. 2). This can be done using a multi meter (Fig. 3). Set the multi meter to measure resistance (?) and note the resistance when the electrodes are placed against the pins on the fuel injection plug (Fig. 2).
